  I was spending the weekend near Penzance when my rear exhaust suddenly fell off. It was a Saturday morning and Kwik Fit were open so I took my car (Peugeot 307 SW) there for a quote. After putting it up on the ramps they confirmed that it was just the rear silencer and said that it would cost £120 incl. vat - saying that it would take 45 minutes to change it over. I was a bit shocked at the amount but as I had my wife and brother-in-law with me (he has autism and gets easily stressed!) I decided to have it done there and then. When I paid the bill I was told that it would in fact cost £135.40 incl.vat. My bill didn't separate out the costs of the silencer and labour, but when I got home I looked up the price of an identical silencer online and found out that it only cost £21.69 incl.vat..! I rang the branch and spoke to the manager but he was unapologetic, saying that he had overheads and wages to pay, etc. I do feel that I was 'fleeced' somewhat...
